Our kitchen on a cold but sunny February day ready for the afternoon’s baking... I started ‘Cakes Direct...from The Lodge’ in October 2012 with the support and encouragement of friends, colleagues and every member of my family.
I have been baking the fruit cakes for ten years and mastered the Yorkshire Parkin four years ago. My parkin was inspired by my Dad’s quest to try and buy traditional Homemade Yorkshire Parkin as oaty and moist as his mother used to bake. And that, surprisingly, is hard to find even here in Halifax in Yorkshire!
I love to take inspiration from the past and to do things the old-fashioned, patient way. Nowadays, life doesn’t always let us have the time to bake the slower bakes, so why not taste the delights of my kitchen delivered straight to your door.
